You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized experience is defined as work with a Federal, State, Municipal, Local, or Private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, trespass, maintain order and protecting life. Such experience must demonstrate knowledge of munitions, protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Access Control OperationsPhysical SecuritySearch TechniquesSecurity Documentation Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. This position is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision. This includes Protection from Abuse Orders. This is an open continuous announcement. The initial cut off date for referral is 7 July 2020. After this date additional referral lists will be created as vacancies are available at the duty locations. If you are referred and not selected or receive a letter indicating your were ineligible because of missing documents you must complete a new application package for this vacancy to receive further consideration.If you decline a position covered in this announcement and want to be considered at a later time you must reapply.
